From Iwo to Lagos: Our Pupils Are Limitless

We are delighted to share one of the most remarkable achievements in the history of God's Heritage School, Iwo.

What you are about to read is not just the story of one child. It is the story of what happens when a school believes in its children and a child believes in himself.

It Began in the Classroom

During a Nigerian History lesson on heroes, seven-year-old Desire Femi-Oladele drew inspiration and channelled everything he had learnt into a compelling essay for Stage 1 of the Meristem Boardroom Takeover Initiative, a national competition open to children aged 7 to 15 across Nigeria.

He was shortlisted.

Stage 2: A Boy, a Camera, and a Big Dream

In the second stage, Desire stood before a camera right here in Iwo and boldly communicated his vision in a two-minute video presentation. No big studio. No big city. Just a boy with a big dream and the courage to express it.

The Verdict

After a thorough panel review, Desire emerged as the overall GMD (Group Managing Director), the most senior role in the entire competition. He was the youngest child selected, aged just seven years old.

He walked into the Meristem Securities Limited boardroom in Lagos, sat at the head of the table, and led.

He came home to Iwo with the Meristem Boardroom Takeover Future Leaders Award, a plaque bearing his full name and a monetary prize.

From Iwo to Lagos

Every step of this journey happened right here in Iwo. The inspiration, the essay, the video, the preparation, all of it. But the dream was crowned in Lagos.

We share this achievement not to celebrate one child alone but to celebrate every single pupil of this school. We believe in all of them just as deeply and just as completely as we believed in Desire. Every child that walks through our doors carries this same potential.

This is what God's Heritage School, Iwo stands for. Geographical location is no barrier once the mindset is not imprisoned. Our pupils are limitless.

If they can dream it, we will equip them to live it. Wherever they are, they will Be the Light.
