Cancellation of End-of-Session Thanksgiving Celebration

Dear Esteemed Parents,

We write to you today with a heavy heart and a sobered spirit. Our nation is bleeding. The abduction of young children, including a two-year-old child barely old enough to understand the world, into the hands of bandits is not a statistic. It is a wound. It is a mirror held up to all of us who bear responsibility for the young.

We cannot, in good conscience, gather for a celebration while teachers and pupils in our country remain in captivity, their families suspended in grief and uncertainty. GHSI stands for something. We stand for children, not only our own, but every child. To celebrate while others mourn would be to betray the very values we teach within these walls.

Accordingly, the End-of-Session Thanksgiving Celebration, previously scheduled for this term, is hereby cancelled. This decision is neither administrative nor logistical. It is a moral one. We make it deliberately, and we make it together.

All payments received in respect of this celebration will be fully refunded. Parents who have made payments are kindly requested to contact the school directly to confirm refund arrangements.

Regarding the GHSI-branded school sweater: it will now be introduced at the commencement of the First Term of the new academic session and the cost will be incorporated into the First Term school fees. As it forms a component of the official uniform, no cardigan, sweater, or similar garment of any other colour or shade shall be permitted on school premises from that point. We ask for your full compliance.

We thank you for the trust you place in us each day when you bring your children through our gates. That trust is sacred, and we do not take it lightly.

We ask that you keep the abducted children, their teachers, and their families in your prayers. May God, whose heritage we bear in our name, bring them home safely.
